New course format on nursing care at the KVHS in cooperation with EK Pflege
In January 2026, a new course format on the subject of ‘care’ will start at the Eichsfeld District Adult Education Centre. This has been made possible by a cooperation with EK Pflege.
When a family member needs care, many worries, fears and questions arise. What needs to be applied for and where? What support is available from statutory nursing care insurance? Where can you get a nursing bed? What options are available if home care is not possible?
All these questions are answered in the new series of courses by the care advisors at EK Pflege.
The series begins on Wednesday, 21 January 2026 (11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) at the Heilbad Heiligenstadt location with a presentation entitled ‘What does it actually mean to be in need of care? The path to a care level.’ What exactly does being in need of care mean? The care advisors at EK Pflege explain who is entitled to a care level, what steps are necessary and how to navigate the jungle of applications. The series continues on Thursday, 12 March 2026 (4:30–6:00 p.m.) with ‘Medical service assessment without stress – how to prepare yourself well’. For many, the assessment by the medical service is a challenge. The care advisors at EK Pflege will show you how to prepare specifically, what is important and how to present the situation correctly. On Tuesday, 28 April 2026 (4:00–5:30 p.m.), there will be a presentation on the topic of ‘Care insurance compact – benefits available to you in the individual care levels’. What support is available in the different care levels? You will receive a clear overview of cash benefits, benefits in kind and offers to ease the burden from the care advisors at EK Pflege. The lecture ‘When children need care – what parents should know’ will take place on Thursday, 11 June 2026 (4:30–6:00 p.m.). The need for care does not only affect older people. The care advisors at EK Pflege provide information about the specifics of applying for a care level for a child – in a sensitive and understandable manner.
The course ‘Last Aid – a course on how to provide safe support’ will take place at the Leinefelde site on Thursday, 5 March 2026 (5:00–9:00 p.m.). No one wants to be alone in their darkest hour. When the life of a loved one is coming to an end, relatives want to help and support them. But what to do, what to say, how to help? End-of-life care is not only possible for professionals, but also within the family and neighbourhood. This course will provide you with basic knowledge and encourage you to turn your attention to the dying. Because care is what is so important and valuable at the end of life. The course teaches the basics of end-of-life care – in a simple, sensitive and practical way – so that you can provide sensitive support to the dying and their loved ones. Participation in this course is free of charge, but registration is required. On Thursday, 26 March 2026 (5:00–6:30 p.m.), the topic will be ‘Living wills and powers of attorney’. Many people are familiar with these terms, but what do they really mean and why are they so important? This lecture aims to help participants understand the advantages, such as self-determination over medical decisions and relief for relatives and loved ones in difficult times. Advance registration is required for all events. The course fee for all courses is £5.00 per person. The ‘Last Aid’ course is free of charge.
